I ♥ Morecambe

It was a beautifully sunny day yesterday and there was no way I was going to spend all of it working in the office. After all, if I am my own boss then I can allow myself a little playtime can't I?

I decided to wander down the promenade for half an hour and I am glad I did. It was a gorgeous day, the sun was warm and the sea formed smooth ripples as it lapped against the shore. Children were playing in the sand while parents watched nearby. Pensioners sat on the benches gazing across the bay to the hazy hills of Grange and beyond. Couples strolled along holding hands and cyclists carefully wended their ways around the pedestrians. Everyone looked happy and I know I had a smile on my face.

Here are some of the images I took.

*Oh, and just FYI, to make the ♥ symbol turn on your numberlock, hold down the Alt key and press 3

Mad March (ish)

The beginning of March has been hectic to say the least. I had two client websites to complete plus family obligations. All is done now so here's a couple of links.

The first website I completed was for Morecambe Gas Showroom. Tim, the owner, is a long-standing friend who had started a GBBO website but needed someone to tweak it and make it look better. I had never worked with a GBBO website before and discovered some limitations but managed to create something a little more pleasant and customised - Tim is pleased with it and that's the main thing.

The second one was for an existing client Chris Abram. I had created the "Erics" website for him late 2009 for the video competition he arranged. He is lovely to work for and was pleased with my efforts so came back to me when he needed a website for his "Our Heritage" films. Heritage Video Productions is a place to find out about Chris and his videography work plus you can purchase DVDs online now. It's based around Wordpress so Chris can update it himself in the future rather than have to come back to me for everything.

I am currently working with an engineering recruitment firm and a fabulous vocalist to create them websites that are as effective as they are attractive. Watch this space.

What, it's March already?

Where is the year going? Today is a lovely sunny day in Morecambe and I am contemplating a blustery walk along the promenade later as a treat for working hard all morning. I am nearing completion on two websites but sometimes the sunshine calls and I have to enjoy it.

Yesterday I found a lovely person on Twitter - @IngridAmy - who shares a mutual love of all things cake. The upshot of our tweets was the declaration that the week of 16th May 2011 is now Cake Week. Thanks to Tumblr I had a blog/website up and running within 15 minutes. Already made a couple of posts but I am hoping everyone will join in and post their own pics, recipes etc of favourite cakes. There's also a section for cake-related questions. Why not drop by and have a look?

Well, back to work I go while I chat with my Twitter friends at the #watercoolermoment
